Over the years tourism in Arugam Bay has concentrated itself in the area of the main road and beach running between Pottuvil lagoon and Main Point. This area is the busiest and for many has become ruined by constant traffic, crazy loud all night parties and hard selling locals.
Where to find peace and friendly locals – Sinhapura Road
A new area of Arugam Bay looks like becoming the place to be in 2020 if you are craving peace and quiet, authentic local life, untouched beaches and minimal tourism. South of Arugam Bay along Sinhapura Road a few hostels and guesthouses have opened their doors to people needing a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle just a 10 minute walk to the north.
Escape the Crowds
The beach here stretches all the way to the south to Elephant Rock via Crocodile Rock and to the north it is only a 10 min walk to Main Point. The entire area has been almost untouched by tourism until now and is a great place to explore especially by bike.
If this sounds like your kind of place then be sure to check out these highly rated accommodations. The reviews read well and we are sure that this year they will sell out fast!
